Kangroo Holster – Underarm Holster Review – DeepConceal.com
By chris July 16, 2009
I just got this cool new holster from DeepConceal.com

Yes, it DOES look like a funky ole man bra... but - it is a very comfortable way to daily carry when you sit down or drive a lot during the day.
The gun feels very secure next to your side. It's not the quickest way to access your pistol but it's nice to keep it off my waist sometimes.
Here is a video did of an "unboxing" and I tried it on for the first time.
These things are really cheap, priced at about $25 - $30. I got the larger model for "standard" sized weapons.
My S&W SW9VE holsters in it fine but the butt (as usual) prints a bit. I'm starting to see where a compact pistol would really come in handy here.
The SW9VE would be a good conceal carry if I used an outside the waistband holster with an untucked shirt but that's not really an option for me.
Cross Breed Holster – Super Tuck – Retention Issues?
By chris July 15, 2009
After posting this video review of the the Crossbreed Supertuck holster I got the following comment about the holster retention...
from scoobydoo6906
"I was considering getting a crossbreed holster after that video absolutely not! that level of retention? is unacceptable and borderline negligent in my opinion. you would be hard pressed to run or even bend over without losing your gun with that thing. that thing should be able to be holstered up and shook vigorously and not even think about moving. all the leather and kydex hybrid holsters i gave seen are garbage, one or the other until they figure to out. no way!, zero retention not "medium"
Really the gun is pretty secure after it is secured by your belt inside your waistband. I never feel like it's going to slip out...even if it did there are instruction on how to "firm up" the retention using a hair dryer...more on that later...
Smith & Wesson Sigma SW9VE – Price DROP!
By chris July 13, 2009
Was checking out one of my favorite online gun shops:
www.budsgunshop.com and noticed they had a nice little price drop on their Sigma's.

I paid about $349 for mine last month. It's not a big price drop but
it's nice to see the price of a firearm actually go DOWN for once!
I think they had a deal on these for about $250-$275 last year.
Will we ever see those prices again....?
Do Guns Make People More Courteous?
By chris July 08, 2009
I got my first email from my 30daysofconcealment blog from a man named Joe in Missouri:
"...I am a veteran of the Air Force and being a Navy brat, I am very familiar with firing guns. I was taught to respect them and act responsibly. I think you're going to like concealed carry. Everyone I've met that carries a pistol concealed is a "class act". It's really about maintaining our rights, living free, and defending our personal safety. If someone wants my money or my car, they can have it gladly. I think concealed carry is about being prepared for something we hope will never happen. You'll really notice a difference in walking around with a weapon - I find myself being extra courteous to others and not wanting to draw attention to myself. With any right, CCW requires you be aware of the law, proficient and safe with your weapon, and aware of the awesome responsibility you have as a citizen. My recommendation would be to carry consistently. Oh and practice, practice.
"I carry a Springfield Armory XD 9 Subcompact everywhere I go. I carry it in a Blackhawk leather (outside the wasteband/on my belt) holster. I usually have a t-shirt tucked in and a longer (untucked) shirt over the gun. It works great, it's compact, comfortable, reliable and has 13 in the magazine and one in the tube. The XD is awesome - just like a glock but has a grip safety so it wont go bang when you put it in your holster. But there are no complicated safeties to mess with when you need to draw."

Thanks for taking the time to write!

Another reason why it's NOT a good idea to sleep with a gun underneath your pillow... it makes the pillow really firm!

My First Concealed Carry Holster

This is an inside the waistband holster that is made to contour around your body. It does a great job in keeping it close to your body without chaffing.
A little pricey - starting at around $70 but very nice:

Why I Use “Fake Bullets” In My Gun
By chris July 06, 2009
Here is a review I did of some dummy bullets, otherwise known as "snap caps".
While getting used to the gun it's a good idea to get a feel for the trigger and the exact amount of force required. Firing with no bullet in the chamber is called "dry firing" and generally looked down upon because it may be bad for the gun internals.
These snap caps allow the force of the firing pin to be absorbed with no damage or unnecessary wear to the firing pin.

Buying Ammunition
By chris July 06, 2009
Here is some of the first ammunition I bought. With prices a bit high as of June/July 2009 I decided to buy in semi-bulk. I bought about 600 rounds of 9mm from Cabelas for a pretty good price and only about a 2-3 week back order which is pretty good compared to most others.
How To Keep Your Gun Locked Up But Accessible
By chris July 06, 2009
Here are two very cool quick access pistol boxes I got from amazon. They come in three different sizes, I have the medium and large versions.

(I bought the lock box before I bought my gun =)
They are not fireproof and are really just lock boxes. The medium shown would be great to keep in your vehicle. The larger one I use for my home.
Here is a comparison I did between the medium and large models:

It is a bit tricky to reset the code on them so I did a little video on that here:

Concealed Carry Permit | Training Class | Firing Range
By chris July 06, 2009
Here is a video of me using a .22 LR to get "qualified" for the class. You must demonstrate your competency in firing a weapon in the presence of the instructor.
The minimum requirement is just one round which is usually all they do at the quick and easy gun show classes.
